There are many opportunities for international students to study abroad, one of which is studying in Japan. A Japan Student Visa is required when students apply for Japan’s schools, colleges, and universities. Students who are not Japanese nationals will have to obtain a Japan Student Visa. Here, we will learn how to apply for a Japanese visa. All international students require a Japan Study visa to study in Japan.
Japan has a visa exception arrangement with over 50 countries worldwide. Students can find the list on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan’s website. If you are a citizen of one of these countries and want to visit Japan for a short time, you can stay without a visa for up to 90 days. If you are going to get the visa, you have to get acceptance from Japanese universities. Students cannot work until they get permission from the university or immigration office. What is Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and How to Get that?
The Japanese Immigration Services issued the Certificate of Eligibility (COE). You need this document to get a long-term visa to stay in Japan. You must send several documents to the university in Japan, and they will apply for the COE on your behalf. Once you have the COE, you can apply for the Japan Student Visa.
Period of the Japan Student Visa:
The Visa is valid for 4 years and 3 months or less than this.

Application Process:
- When you will receive the Certificate of Eligibility from the university, then you can apply for the visa. The steps to complete the application form are given below.
- First, you have to refer to the Japanese Embassy/Consulate website Link.
- Select your country and go to the visa section.
- Some Japanese embassies do not accept direct applications. Therefore, you have to check the website of the Japanese embassy in your country and follow the process.
- Collect all the required documents, print the complete form, and take it with you when you go to the Japan Visa Application Centre.
- Book an online appointment.
- You can pay the visa fee online or on the day of the appointment.
- Students can submit visa to the Japanese Embassy in their country.
- Once you receive your passport with a Visa sticker on it. You can now Travel to Japan.
- Once you arrive, you will receive a Residence Card.
