  •  You have to provide proof of your & educational documents such as secondary education, transcripts, and higher education degrees.
  •  You must provide proof that you can cover your living costs during your studies (at least €11,208 per year as of 2023). This is not required if you have a scholarship.
  •  You can do this by opening a blocked account in Germany.
  • The German Embassy or Consulate might ask you to show proof of a language test.
  • If proof of German language skills is needed, you usually need a minimum B2 level.
  • Provide proof of payment for the visa application fee.
  • Get travel health insurance.

Who Does Not Require a Visa?

  • Citizens of EU and EFTA states, including Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Iceland, do not need a visa or residence permit.
  • Citizens of Japan, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Israel, South Korea, and the United States can enter Germany without a visa.
  • All other third-country nationals must apply for a visa at their local German embassy or consulate before traveling to Germany.

Types of German Student Visa:

  • If you plan to visit Germany for education and stay a long time, you need to apply for a Germany National Visa (D Visa) for long-term stays.

There are three types of German Student Visas:

Student Applicant Visa:

  • If you do not have a formal admission letter from the university yet, you will have to take the entrance exams offered by the university. The results are valid for 3 months, but you can extend them to 6 months if needed.

Language Course Visa:

  • German Language courses last from 3 months to 1 year.

Student Visa:

  • This is a long-term visa that allows you to study in Germany if you are accepted into a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program at a German university.

How to apply for the Germany Student Visa?

  • The application process is very simple.
  • When you have completed all the above procedures then all documents will be in your hand.
  • You have to go to the German Embassy or Consulate to submit your application in your country.
  • To find the German embassy or consulate you need to contact for your visa application, check the World Map. There, you can also set up an appointment, view the updated document list for the study visa, and check the processing time.
  • Apply at least 3 months before.

  • Students have to apply for a residence permit with the residents’ registration office closest to their home in Germany.
