The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program was established by Congress in October 2002 as a response to the events of September 11, 2001. This Exchange Program in the USA offers scholarships to high school students from countries with huge Muslim populations to spend up to one year in the United States of America. IEARN is in charge of selecting students from Arab-Israel, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Liberia, Mali, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and Suriname for the program. They also help improve the experience by connecting schools through online projects. When students return to their home countries after the exchange, they join the YES Alumni network and can take part in alumni events. The goal of the YES Alumni program is to build on what students learned during their exchange year, especially about volunteer work, community service, and being responsible citizens.
